Overland tour in Africa . Odyssey from Gabon to Chad
Are you looking for a real adventure as part of a real expedition? Here it is! A epic overland tour in Africa in which we will travel 6 countries of Central Africa for 45 days.
Gabon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Cameroon and Chad are some of the most fascinating and unknown places left on the African continent.
We can guarantee that we won't meet practically any other traveller or other overland companies once we leave the Gabonese coast.
Is it possible to experience adventure travel in Africa?
In a world where the word adventure is almost empty of meaning and everyone is trying to repeat the same journeys, we keep on offering unique overland tours in Africa and prospective expeditions.
The majority of the overland tours in Africa that we propose have a prospective character, that is, we always like to include in our itineraries parts that we don't even know ourselves. This type of expedition is an open window to improvisation and adventure.
Expedition overland in Central Africa
The overland trip start with a humpback whale sighting in Port Gentil, a town on the Gabonese coast.
Continue to the Loango National Park in Gabon, known as the "Last Eden" to meet elephants, buffalo and hippopotamus. We will sail into the Akaka jungle, where in the dry season a large number of mammals concentrate in its grasslands.
We will review the history of Lambarené, the third city in Gabon known for the Schweitzer Hospital, still in service today, and with a wing that has been converted into a museum. It houses the office, home, laboratory and treatment center of the famous doctor.
Stay tuned during the trip! We will be looking forward to attending a Bwiti animist ceremony.
Explore the south of Congo, with its impressive canyons and gorges like those of Diosso, its beautiful beaches lined with coconut palms and the city of Point Noire, one of the most modern in Africa.
Crazy weekend in Brazzaville and Kinshasa, from where we will visit the only bonobo sanctuary in Africa.
In Brazzaville we will try to have an encounter with the fascinating "Sapeurs", one of the most interesting urban movements in Africa.
We will cross again the Congo River towards Brazzaville to begin the odyssey that will take us to N'Djamena in Chad. Before that we will have to cross the whole Congo jungle via Ouesso and Enyelle.
Endless logging tracks, pygmy villages, very probable encounters with elephants, gorillas and chimpanzees, during the trip to Bangui.
From Bangui we will travel to Cameroon. We will do it in the rainy season and possibly we will find very difficult stretches of mud and/or huge trees blocking the way.
We will overcome all natural and police obstacles before reaching the capital of Chad to complete this great challenge in Central Africa
This trip to Central Africa is divided into two parts:
Overland trip to Gabon and Congo
With a defined itinerary we will travel for 11 days through Gabon and 7 through the Congo.
This trip includes a good number of visits, activities, safaris, entry fees to National Parks.
The second part of our overland trip to Central Africa:
We try to get the DRC visa in Brazzaville to visit Kinshasa, Zongo falls and Lola Ya Bonobo Sanctuary.
Trip to RDC, the north of Republic of Congo, RCA, Cameroon and southern Chad
This is a 24-day prospective - transit trip.
There are no many scheduled visits or detours (just in RDC). Just travel from one point to another. The distance to cover is to long and the challenges we will encounter along the way will be numerous.
The two parts of this trip to Central Africa are mostly forward-looking.
