Overland expedition in March 2023
Special african overland expedition from Chad to Sierra Leone through Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
This coming March we will close a stage of Kumakonda, handing over our truck to its future owners so that it can continue to roll in a beautiful project with underprivileged children in Sierra Leone. To do this, we will embark on a great transit journey of more than 5,000 kilometres and 9 countries. This will be a totally flexible expedition in itinerary and visits.

Africa overland expedition
Planned route from Chad to Sierra Leone

Possible visits and highlights of the african overland expedition
We will travel overland through a number of countries in Central and West Africa, gaining a broad overview of the cultural and scenic variety of this part of the continent. We will start in the Sahel to reach the tropics via the savannah. Culturally we will pass from the Muslim sultanates of Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria to the lands where voodoo and mask ceremonies are practised.

Crossing the border mountains of Cameroon and Nigeria on a terrible and spectacular track is one of the most attractive parts of the trip. In Nigeria we will stop in different places like Osogbo, Ilorin or possibly Lagos for some sightseeing.
Although this is a transit trip, we anticipate that we will make multiple stops and therefore have the possibility to visit such attractive places as: Porto Novo and Ganvie (lake town) in Benin Cape Coast and Elmina in Ghana with its UNESCO castles. The historic Grand Bassam and the colossal basilica of Yamoussoukro in Côte d'Ivoire. Monrovia, Freetown, capital cities that we will not overlook, and beaches such as River Number 2 in Sierra Leone, where we will take a break from our journey.

We want to take advantage of this transit trip to visit two countries in depth: Nigeria and Liberia. We will carry out different explorations. Traditional ceremonies: we will propose different visits to traditional ceremonies in Benin (voodoo), Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Liberia (masquerades).

We will also enjoy a huge and varied local gastronomic offer in the different countries. We enjoy the local food and the numerous markets that we will have the opportunity to visit to stock up on the route. Those who know us know that we always like to enjoy the night and let ourselves be carried away by improvisation.
